Better Government, Not Bigger Government

I believe that our Democratic Republic form of government and our personal freedoms are under attack in Indiana.  The Indiana General Assembly has increased taxes significantly over the past few years and they have also repeatedly disenfranchised voters by disbanding duly-elected school boards and converting the Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction from an elected position to a Governor-appointed position.

If elected, I will work hard to accomplish the following for Hoosiers:

  • eliminate property assessments and cap property taxes at 1% of the purchase price of the property;
  • abolish the personal and corporate income tax in Indiana;
  • convert Indiana vehicle registration to a one-time registration fee and excise tax, not to exceed 1% of the purchase price of the vehicle.
  • decriminalize medical marijuana to provide an alternative pain management option to highly-addictive opioids;
  • cut spending on overlapping and repetitive programs and state agencies;
  • eliminate professional licensing regulations which unfairly benefit some and restrict opportunities for others;
  • reduce or eliminate regulations which restrict free-market competition and create unfair advantages for some businesses over others; and,
  • ensure that every Hoosier has the ability to protect themselves, their families, and their property by passing Constitutional Carry legislation in Indiana and passing legislation to eliminate "gun- free zones", which create an unsafe environment where perpetrators of violence have the upper hand.

I believe that we need better government, not bigger government.  If you agree, please vote for me, Donald Rainwater, on November 6, 2018.
